The Bogle Design was first drawn by Dr. Harrison Butler in 1933 for the Little Ship Club designing competition and is named after THB’s daughter-in-law, actress Joan Bogle Hickson, who in later years achieved world wide acclaim playing Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple.

Built in 1922 in St Ives by P P Landers and launched in May of that year as a fishing vessel, BEN MY CHREE (Manx for Girl of My Heart) registered number SS139 for Richard Boase. Fished out of St Ives until the late 1930s then sold in to private ownership to Bernard Wilkinson of Keward House, Hampshire. Converted to a private, twin screw motor yacht and registered as SUNGEI. SHAMEEN designed and built by the highly respected Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Hong Kong in 1958. Shortly after being commissioned, she was sailed to Singapore before, in 1960 coming to Poole in Dorset in the ownership of R Y Frost of Canford Cliffs. In 1963 W G C Williams of Hayle in Cornwall purchased SHAMEEN keeping her in St Ives Harbour. 36ft. MONACO CLASS EXPRESS CRUISER – Part Project
Built in 1961 by Morgan Giles, the Monaco class were substantial and considered, at the time to be the equivalent to a Rolls Royce of the Sea. In the late 1950’s the yard work from the Admiralty declined. A replacement was needed and it was the brainchild of Michael Morgan-Giles that created the Monaco Cruiser. Built 1933 by Dickies of Tarbert, pitch pine on oak, this Harrison Butler sloop has been with the same owner since 1979. There are 4 berths in the cabin and forward there is sail storage and the heads. The cockpit seats are storage for warps and lines, the aft cupboard houses the fuel tank. ARIADNE was built in 1924 by Worfolk Brothers, Kings Lynn, Norfolk as an East Coast Pilot Cutter, a role she fulfilled until the 1960s. During the early 1970s she was used as a Pilot Boat laying buoys for the Conservancy Board. Later in the 1970s ARIADNE was converted to a Prawn Fishing Boat.
