Vale of York is a very attractive Classic wooden Bermudan Sloop with a centreboard. She has a very pleasing sheer line a counter stern and racked bow.
Her present owner invested in a full overall cover with frame which has limited the damage the elements take on a vessel, she has remained in the water all year around.
August 2021. The engine has been serviced and a couple of new batteries have been installed. and she has been bought out of the water for a very over due refit.
. The owner has had a verbal inspection made of her by a Marine Surveyor.
His general feedback was that she is remarkably still original in her fixtures and fittings
The hull structure is all seemingly all good, no softness found. She does require a good repaint much of the varnish work needs refreshing.
He does want a thorough overhaul of the centreboard and its lifting system. Standing rigging is being overhauled, a replacement of the forestay. THe mast is immensely good it too requires a thorough refit.The accommodation coachroof main hatch and fore hatch require re sealing. Varnished teak and painted decks. In her day she has gained a RORC rating and is known to have done some extensive cruising.
She offers cabin heating ( All domestic systems require testing for their functionality. ) There's generous headroom below. A seated wheel steering helm position in the deep open aft cockpit. .

2 x gimballed oil lamps in the saloon.
Natural teak on the Cabin sole to port of the engine box. a pilot berths runs aft under the port deck . Using the engine box as a seat there is a drop down chart table . and the navigation equipment fixed to the deck head above.
Starboard is the galley, one large s/s basin with manually pumped cold water only.
Plastimo Neptune: double gas hob with grill and oven.
Semi bulkheads forward into the saloon with opposing wide full length settee berths with stowage beneath. Upholstery covered. Port berth converts to a double. with an infill .
Eberspacher cabin heater.
Forward again Heads to port with a Jabsco sea toilet.opposite is a vanity unity with mirror and drawers. Through a doorway into the fore cabin with two full length large single berths with drawer stowage under. 2 x 12v reading lights.
Chain locker in the forepeak.
This yacht was the forth yacht commissioned by a Lt Col. to be designed by Jack Laurent Giles. She has a very pleasing sheerline with over hangs both fore and aft.
Carvel splined planking, Mahogany topsides and teak for the under water hull.All copper fastened to hardwood frames. Bronze strap floors. She has a centreboard which drops through a lead ballast keel.
Decks and coachroof have been clothed epoxied and painted over marine ply.
Deep open aft cockpit built in teak ( varnished). Natural teak cockpit sole.
A purpose built seated helm position further seating with lockers under and stowage for the gas bottles, a lazerette aft of the cockpit. Wheel steering from a pedestal.
Half doors with a sliding hatch over to enter the accommodation. Step in down onto the engine box and into the cabin sole.
Teak raised dog house coach roof which drops down going forward over the saloon. A Fore hatch at front edge.
Interior cabinets / shelving/ stowage and berths are all as originally fitted.
Good standing headroom below.
In the accommodation the hull sides have been painted out. fixed bronze framed glazing throughout the main cabin plus 2 x sky lights in the coach roof. Make for a light and airy environment.
