| Description |
|
| |
Exclusive to Capital Boats: a multi-purpose, high endurance, aluminium expedition vessel, built for extreme weather and offered for sale with less than 200 hours since new.
This boat was designed and built to take two couples, in comfort and safety, via the Northwest Passage and the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.
Built primarily for private use but in accordance with DNV commercial rules, this vessel would be suitable for a number of commercial applications, can be easily modified as a survey, patrol or crew launch and would be an inspired acquisition for any company. The design rights are available by separate negotiation.
From the polycarbonate, gas-filled windows to the inherent safety & survival features, this state of the art vessel combines the best of luxury motor yachts with the practical features of commercial vessels.
This vessel has been constructed with marine grade aluminium, has 5 water-tight compartments, can take to the ground and is easily transportable thanks to the two built-in lifting lugs.
This unique opportunity to purchase a one-design concept motor vessel at a fraction of the cost to commission a yard to build is due to a change of personal circumstances.
Principal specifications: 17.40m x 5.50m x 1.40m. 37t displ. 5 berth. Hi-ab crane. Twin Volvo Penta D7CTA engines. 4,000 mile range.

Twin Volvo Penta D7CTA commercial engines. Medium continuous rated at 3,000 hrs per year (Can run efficiently for 50% of the year). Power output 195kW / 265hp per engine.
These engines were chosen for their reliability, efficiency & economy. However, for offshore work these powerful Volvo engines can be unrestricted to provide an estimated 16 to 18 knots. Fitting 3-blade propellers will also provide extra speed.
Each keel-cooled engine has less than 200 running hours. The cooling system is fitted with a low-level alarm.
The engines and exhausts are sited on Vibratex engine mounts.
The fuel filtration system for each engine has more than 10 times the necessary filtration area. All fuel filters are fitted with a water level alarm probe.
Each exhaust is fitted with a silencer & particle filter. With both engines running the noise level is only 58dB!
In addition to the 19kW Kabola water boiler & twin 10kW heat exchangers, there is a 3-phase electric water heater from shore power on on-board generator.
The 5-blade, screw-back, phospor-bronze propellors are driven by a 5:1 reduction gearbox and a shaft with a rubber transmission / thru-hull arrangement practically eliminating vibration. This has a number of benefits but mostly increases comfort for those on board and reduces wear & tear on moving mechanical parts.
